Agent Shelton's cover blown?

He might be coming back too. Damn, we were so close. I find it hard to believe. Our Shelton-is-a-stud misinformation campaign appeared to going well. Baseball Prospectus touted him as "the best hitter in the low minors the last two seasons" and although they qualified that with the notion that he could develop into a fine "bench player," recent criticism of the club apeared to show that the Pirate-loving baseball community was sold on the notion that Shelton was a surefire superstar-type prospect. It also looks the Tigers value their roster spots a bit more than the generous community of ball analysts thinks appropriate. John Perrotto reports that he's losing his bench job to Greg Norton.

Hopefully Shelton has been able to gather useful intel on the highly-coveted Detroit rebuilding plan. Since the Tigers have lost 96, 106, and 119 games over the last three years, and the Pirates lost 100, 89, and 87 - that's 15% fewer lumps on the head - obviously the Pirates have a lot to learn from the Tigers.
