Game 146: Cubs at Pirates

Pirates fans fondly remember the "We Will" marketing theme from a few years back, in which the Pirates promised to do . . . something. We couldn't tell what. The slow reveal teased us for months. Toward the end of the year, we were all smiling and laughing as it rounded into "We Will . . . Entertain!"

The Cubs' are now "Committed," I see on the team website. Committed to what? Good times, no doubt. This team is coming up.

They lack the quality players to upgrade their first- and third-base coaches with the likes of Burnett and Sanchez. They are fresh off a series with the Reds, where they probably picked up some bad habits. (Free Shirt Thursday?)

Rusin and Locke at seven.

Is Tony "Two Douche Bags" Sanchez eligible for the playoffs?

Committed has a few other meanings, as in "committed to the mental health facility".

  10. Seaks & Co.:
Obviously HW has been hacked. I was distracted by taxi work requiring me to drive NYC lawyers to Woodstock of all places. Peace, Love and Litigation. I told them I sat on the McClatchy Closet story for close to a decade, and no one would have believed my fanzine ass anyway. Is this the return of Locke? I feel cheated missing games in September. They tipped well, but usually I like to grab at least an inning on the Directv...just a Jordy at bat or a Tony Watson 2-2 count foul out pitch. Back on the horse for Friday night's action TIED FOR FIRST!!!!

  11. Huge win, especially coupled with the hapless Cards falling asleep at the red light and remaining tucked in. PBC plays from Mercer deep in the hole and Cutch's clutch catch will make the 2013 World Champions DVD montage. Meanwhile, the utterly hapless Cubs BUNT down 3-1 with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the 9th ON THE ROAD, where you play to win not tie, and instead pop the ball up a pathetic couple feet over Martin's head. Felt like I was watching the 2013 Bucs play the 2006 Bucs or something.
